CHAPTER 7

STEVEN

T hose words shot straight through me. He was my Alpha, so he knew what he was talking about.

But me? Pregnant?

I always wanted kids, but this was all kind of quick. Sure I felt safe in his arms, but what about his possessiveness?

"Mate, speak to me? Are you feeling okay?" he asked, his arms out to me.

"I'm fine." I rubbed my forehead and swallowed back my surprise. I was a hard working Omega who was a computer programmer at a high-tech agency.

Having a baby was going to dent into my working life. Maybe even…destroy it.

"Steven dearest, you look pale," Drake said, tilting my chin.

"This is all too quick... I have a job, a family back home who wasn't even expecting me to find a mate because I was so against it. I'm going to be returning home as a walking contradiction."

"That's fine. I'm sure they'll understand."

Then I had to remind myself. It was a seventy percent chance, not a hundred. For all I knew, I was fine.

My head began to swim.

"Let me take you back inside, Steven. You need your rest. After our extensive knotting, you shouldn't be up and running around like this," Drake admonished.

My cheeks heated up as I looked at his angular jaw click around. He was cute as he was sexy.

I patted his arm and broke away again. This was a lot I had to process. Plus, felines liked having their space still.

"Drake, I'll find you. I'm gonna take a walk, I need to be by myself for a minute."

Drake frowned. He really wanted me around. It made my heart flutter to know he cared about me that much.

After my last experience, I thought that this would never be a possibility for me. Now here I was, possibly pregnant with a mate who wasn't just an Alpha, but the head Alpha of a huge ass pack and a town.

Wrendall Town wasn't small beans either. It was known for trade and a lot of commercial business. The highest quality of about anything could be found here.

And I could guess they had Drake to thank for that.

I walked to the garden the way I came out from earlier. I saw some of what I thought to be pack members glance at me.

Sniffing, they must've smelled Drake's scent and backed down from approaching me.

He had that much influence, huh?

The fresh crisp breeze of the wind helped lift my mood. Patting my pocket, I took out my phone and stared at it.

My father did want updates, and I hadn't called him for days now.

My finger was hovering over the speed dial option for calling my father until I heard my name being called.

"Mr. Purr?"

I glanced over my shoulders and saw him striding in my direction, his wispy platinum blond hair blowing in the wind. He had all the signature looks an Omega would have. "Oh, Ethan was it?" His name slipped from my mind there for a second.

"Yes.”

"You can call me Steven, something wrong?"

"No, I just wanted to have a small chat with you,” he said, smiling.
